Fur Family is Welcome

From pet friendly cabins to what to pack your fur family member, this blog gives you the info you need on how to vacation with your doggo.

Dog Friendly Cabins

Many of our cabins are dog friendly. Listed as pet friendly this truly means canines, not felines. And generally speaking, this term only refers to the cabin itself. Dog Friendly listed cabins simply mean that the owner is allowing you to bring your fur family into their home while you are here on vacation. It might not mean there is a yard or fenced in area for your fur family to roam.

When looking at booking a place to meet all of Fido’s needs, it is important to look at the property pictures and read the description. Many times, you can get a sense of how friendly the entire property is for your pooch. If you are still not sure, reviews listed with each property can always give you more information as well. Of course, when in doubt, reservations can answer any questions about the property in regard to amenities for your pet.

What to Pack for Fluffy

Some owners will provide fun little extras for your doggos. From treats, to pet beds to extra toys but that isn’t a guarantee. Packing all the things your dog needs at home is still necessary.

Some items to include:

Kennel

Leash

Waste Bags

Food

Bowls

Blankets and toys

Puppy Pads

If you are staying in a cabin that needs service unexpectedly, a kennel is always the safest and best option, especially if you plan on being out while the issue is being resolved. It is also a good idea to remind guest services that you have a dog(s) at your rental and provide any necessary information about that dog to keep it, and our staff, safe during the service call.

And all guests are encouraged to pick up after their pet uses the restroom outside.

Cost Effective

Now, more than ever, many of our owners recognize the importance of bringing the fur family on vacation. It also saves costs. While we do charge a small pet fee, it is far cheaper to pay then boarding your pup. And unless that kid from church is available to house sit, your dog will enjoy being with you in your home away from home.

Dog Friendly Activities

You can’t go wrong with this area when it comes to vacationing with your pet. The mountains offer many pet friendly walks/hikes to enjoy. Some restaurants allow pets on their patios. Even Dollywood has Doggywood, the day care for your pooch while you enjoy the park. (Reservations must be made for Doggywood).

Even staying at a cabin with Lake access can provide some fun in the sun for Fido. For a quick peak at some of our pet friendly cabins, click HERE

Happy Family

Bottom line, we want the ENTIRE family to have the best vacation possible when they visit us. Happy memories make for happy returns. The wonderful thing about the Smoky Mountains is that they are withing a day’s drive from so many places. We understand that being able to find the best and most affordable options for your humans and canines is important and we are here to help make that happen.
